The Nic Beanie

The Nic Beanie

I've not yet had anybody test this pattern although I've made it myself. Please understand that there may be mistakes. If you decide to try the pattern and have any comments I'd be happy to hear them as well as any mistakes that might be found.

My son began wearing a beanie I made for him when he was in high school. It has become an extension of him! When he went to college he requested a new beanie in his school colors.

I've now lost count of how many beanies I have made for his friends but I love doing it! I've modified my pattern many times and I think this is the best.

  1. I did a double take when I saw your son's cat here-it looks just like a cat I have named Ringo who likes to play just that same way!!! Love the beanie :)

    1. This is Lucci who we lost a few weeks ago. He was huge and the most lovable, sweet cat every! He and Nic would play tag in the house which is a funny thing to see in such a small house.

  2. Like many other people, I make hats for charities so don't have anyone to try the hat on to know the number of rows to work after Row 12.
I'm sure all of us would find it helpful if you could add in [or state here] how many rows you usually work!
Thanks, Norma [mabear in New Zealand]

    1. I would suggest (starting with Round 10) to do 5 rounds of dc's and then do those final 2 rounds at the end of the pattern to give it the finished look and to also make it slightly longer in the back than in the front. My son (Nic) actually prefers his without the longer length in the back so I just finish his off with a round of sc's.

I know my pattern calls for a round of dc's alternated with a round of sc's. I no longer do the rounds of sc but if you want to do that then I would suggest 3 rounds of dc's and 3 rounds of sc's followed by the 2 finishing rounds at the end of the pattern.

Feel free to message me if my reply isn't very clear. :)
