Beginner Shell Scarf Pattern

I wrote this simple pattern to be used in my crochet class. It proved to be simple enough for beginner (adult) students. Some of my students already had some basic knowledge of crochet but one had never held a crochet hook before taking this class. This was her 3rd session and she did great with this pattern. Besides learning the double crochet stitch my goal was for the students to begin learning how to follow a pattern and I was delighted to see they were all able to quickly pick up the abbreviations and follow the pattern on their own.

Feel free to use this pattern in any way besides publishing it to other web sites/blogs.

  2. This is a lovely pattern! I noticed that in Row 4, the second time that it says (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), I believe it should say "in next ch 2 space (center of shell)" like it does earlier in this row instead of "in next st." Could you please let me know if I am correct? Thank you for posting this! I love it!
